Final Essay and Comment

Hip Hip Horray! Hip Hip Horray! Class of 2009 will like to present the American Way of Life! My name is Quinn Wu and I am a american boy. I was raise in Andy's class, learning the concept of living in America. Andy shows us how to take a step closer to the America and teaching us how the world revolues around us. Without Andy, I wouldnt have understand the whole concept, the importance of certain values that America has. I was so blind at first that living in the America, we have many aspects to go through, such as dealing with the government, capitalism, birth, health care, food and energy. All these aspects are related to the American Way of Life. Andy gave me a chance to know exactly how to survive in a better way than dealing with obstacles. He also gives me the opportunity to live my American Way of Life in a passionate way. Not only that Andy help me to live my American Way of Life, but it helps me to help others to live better. I get to help my younger sibling. i get to help my future family and dealing with the American Life.

Living in the United States, not many people noticed what they're developing toward their lives. People are rewarded with many chances to change their lives, but they still dont appericate their reward. Basically, i am trying to say that some people are still not satisfied of how the American Way of Life is treating them, due to their class, race and gender. At the beginning of the year, i wanted to know how different people think about their American Way of Life. So i decided to interview random people. Many of them bought up the issues of money, looking for a business and freedom. This black single mother actually makes me feel pity for her. She has to deal with three child of her own and have to work for the whole day to make money. Her husband left her when she has the first child. The American Way of Life is creating too much pressure for her to handle. Everyone of us has their own way of survivng in the America.

How does Capitalism affect the American Way of Life? "Capitalism is the economic system in which the production are distrubted to openly competeing profit and where investments, distrubtion, income, production and goods are predominatly determined through the operation of a free market." Basically, Capitalism are related to business, which includes the supply and demand. There is several aspects of Capitalism such as land, labor and capital. Land is an resouces that help you set up the sell. Labor is all the work that is necessary to produce and sell. Capital is the stuff to reshaped. America is bascially all about business. In that case, if you want to make a lot of money, you will need good items and lower prices, because in that way, you will starting a competitive advantage to bring customers to buy your goods. Capitalism helps you to have a good business model, so you can earn moneys.

"Eww, Birth!" "How do you feel about birht happening in America?" Andy started a new unit on brith, i ahve a bad feeling i wasnt going to be interested on this topic. But he prove me wrong because brith happens to be a serious problem in the United States. I asked my family how birth influence them and it seem that they went throught a lot of pain. This issue lead me to be thinking about my future and how willl it affect my wife. I never understand the whole concept on dealing with the American Way of Birth. So basically, living in the American Way of Brith, there is two options to give birth. There is hospital birth and home birth. So which option is better to give birth? If you whether feel comfortable laying on your own bed giving birth, so stick with your reasoning. Your home is a private place for you to give births.No doctors or nurses will be checking out your body or giving you drugs. Homebirth is one of the best ways to give birth. You fell less pain; you don’t have to worry about the mess you made after your birth. You have supports and more attention from others. And guess what? You can also hire a midwife.

A midwife is a female that attends to childbirths, providing supports during labor and delivery. Midwives also focus on the needs of the family and encourage the family to participate in the birth. Midwifery pays much more attention to the woman needs and cares. They won’t disobey your concern and stick with your safety. Midwives reduce a woman’s fear, pain, and anxiety during birth.If something went wrong, most likely the midwife will take you to the hospital and still be there for you.

IF you whether feel comfortable lying on the hospital bed with needle inside of you. And other people in the same room as you, so stick with your reasoning. There’s doctor and nurse running around the room trying to get the baby out of you. Hospital birth is one way to give birth but it will be in a lot of pain and stress. You do have to worry about your concentration on pushing your baby out and whining like a bitch for help. You will have to take drugs to make you loose focus and you will have less support. You have to wait for a long time without foods, waters and love until the doctor is ready for you. After the baby is taken out, they don’t care about it and test the baby with careless mistake, such as shaking the baby with force. It also breaks the mom and the baby love bond. So this is how the American Way of Birth works, you either give birth at home or at the hospital.

"So what is exactly health care and what does that affect our American Way of Life? Health Care refers to the treatment and management of illness and the presevation of health. Health care embraces all the goods and services throughout interventions whether it is directed to individuals or populations. There are many terms of health care in this world. health care provider is an organization of health care facilities to form proper health care in a systematic way. Emergency medicine is a very rare medicine that focuses on the diagnoses and treatment of acute illnesses and injuries that require immedicate medical attention. Chronic care management envelop the oversight and education activites to the trainers to help patients with diseases. Patient safety is a health care discpline to orgainze reports, analysis and pass medical error. Health care helps patient to regian control of their life. Health care is like a environment that brings you back into your life, feeling abusolutely complete.

Living in America, people suffer because they dont have insurance to pay for medicine. When i saw the movie "sicko" i feel unpleasant for the people that work their ass off on the World Trade Center and insurane doesnt even cover their payments up. So they have to travel to different places just to save their own life.

So what is exactly the American Way of Food? Living in America for 17years, i noticed that Americans do not eat food to stay alive but based on the taste of the food. American, sure knows that foods helps them to live longer but do they know if the foods they are eating, helps them to live a "better life?"Not many people realize that the foods they are eating are unhealthy. Some people thinks that eating a lot of foods will make them overweight, so they think it is better not to eat and starve. Now that's complete wrong! You must eat "healthy" foods that will actually "help" your body. Many american thinks that "eating" good is a problem, but you know what "they" say, when there's a problem, there is always a solution.

Of course food helps you to stay in life but do they help you to stay in shape such as having a healthy heart? You have to eat food that your body requires, not you. You dont make the decisions of what to eat and not to eat. It is mainly about your heart. Billions of people are having trouble sleeping at night due to the fact they are having an unhealthy heart. Eating unhealthy food is very dangerous to people that are overweight or that the body system doesnt need. Unhealthy food can cause your body to have diseses such as heart attack, direhha, stroke headaces..etc. So just lay off the fatty food such as Mc. Donald, Wendy, KFC, foods that you know that will affect your heart.

So howcome when i skip meals i still stay unhealthy?" Skipping meal is basically like eating unhealthy food because your body needs those food to make you grow and stay alive. If you skip meal, your stomach cant hold the hunger for that long and you will eventually die. You must eat "healthy" foods. Breakfast and lunch are your most important meals of the day. Your heart and stomach needs those food to help you move around and stay fit. Dinner is a meal you can eat less, but if you feel hungry, grap some fruits or chew some gum.

Take me for an example, i am 17 and i am living in a body that is not "perfect" I have to cut the fat food and start eating foods that my body wants. I work out when i have time, so basically i wanted to thank andy for puttin back to my feet because i needed to stay healthy.

Lastly, "what do you think might happen in the next 10 years if our resouces run down on us?" Yupp, we have no clue to answer that question. We live in America and we need a lot of resources to stay alive. We dont actually knows what might happen to us. Everything has a beginning and it must have a ending. When i was reading "easter island" i feel so nervous and scared that we might collaspe like the people living in the easter island. In easter island, they have rich resouces to build anything. But once there resouces was complete off, their world started to collaspe. So if we were to loose our resouces such as energy, we will all die because energy gives us things that we need.

So to put a ending to this, i really appericate what i learn throughout the year because i didnt even think about the American Way of life. Now, i realize that we need to change our life based on the food, health care, birth, energy and civilazation. Everyone faces his or her life in a complete different way and only you can change your life living here, in America. Throughout the year, i feel like i have work hard to loose weight and change my eating system. My parent learn how to save energy because they mostly use a lot of water and light. But overall, i surely enjoy my American Way of Life.

Collaspe Assignement # 2

Relating this assignment to assignment #1, Easter Island really makes me feeling scared and nervous. I dont know what's going to happen in 10 years. We dont know whats going to happen if "our" world runs out of resources. No one knows what will actually happen if our world "do" collaspe. Connecting our world to the article " Easter Island" those people uses a lot of valuables resources to make "shit" which turns out to be a waste and thats why those fuckers's society collaspe. Similar, to America, we use a lot of oil, which makes us having to loose engry. America depends on oil to live and most likly if we loose these resources, america will collaspe.

I didnt know that oil was so important to america. We depend on oil becuase everything are make out of oil. I dont actually knows where oil comes from but when Andy ask what is so important about oil, no one has the "right" answer. Oil helps us throughout the world by making us "happy" if we run out of oil, we will face like a lot differnetly. Due to the fact, that oil is so important to our society. This main resouces run our world, if this resource were to be wasted,m we will turn out to be like easter island. Easter island is a great known enviornment and has many well rescources. They build stautes that are make from trees whcih are make from resouces. They cut down trees, which wasted them a lot of rich resouces and causes them to collaspe.

I didnt know that resources is so important to us. I really didnt know. For example, money is my resouces and i spend money like "snap, snap, snap" Without money, i'll collaspe so if we are wasiting oil, the world will collaspe.

Collaspe Assignment #1

Let me start out by asking this question, "have you ever thought what might happen, if this "world" collaspe? I found it pretty interesting and surprising how people living in this society, do not think of our resource and civilization. When i was readint the title, "Easter Island" and comparing it to the picture, i have no idea what it is going to be about. I though it was mostly about statues and why there are form, but when i started to read the article, i think "we" are useless and irresponsible. First, i will like to say something about those statues. I think the statues are built by rich resouces. I bet these statues appears in different places according to the map. The author stated that if these statues were to be destroyed, they lost ton of valuable resources. People living on easter island are "fucking" stupid, they use "rare" resources such as fossil fuel, oil to make stuff such as trees. They ahve the power the strength to plant more trees and it is unlimited for them. But for us, it is a whole different story. We dont have the "best" resources and it takes a while for us to create such resources. If we keep on using these resources, one day our "world" will collaspe. The only way to save the world is by using less netural resources. This is connected to the American Way of Life because many americans are selfish and irresponsible. They do what is best for them and not to harm themselves, but it will harm us, which makes us being in danger. We need to save fossil fuel and oil, so our world wont collaspe.

Final Food Assignment

How does eating food affects our lives? How do we know if we are making the right choice of eating "this kind" of foods? Does the foods you are about to eat, gives you nutrition? Does the foods you are about to eat helps your body to function in a better way? And are you eating healthy or unhealthy foods? Living in America for 17years, i noticed that Americans do not eat food to stay alive but based on the taste of the food. American, sure knows that foods helps them to live longer but do they know if the foods they are eating, helps them to live a "better life?" Some people thinks that eating a lot of foods will make them overweight, so they think it is better not to eat and starve. Now that's complete wrong! You must eat "healthy" foods that will actually "help" your body. Many american thinks that "eating" good is a problem, but you know what "they" say, when there's a problem, there is always a solution.

Yes, food are important to people, it helps us to fill up our hunger and being satisfy. But the main question is : what "kinds" of food should we must eat to satisfy our body?" People should be eating foods that helps their heart to stay healthy. Foods that help your body to prevent sickness or diseases. We should eat dairy products everyday to stay in bettershape. We should be drinking a lot of milk and enjoy it, because it is supporting our system. If we are adoviding all the dairy products entirely, you are not supporting your health. You can ask yourself "why is drinking milk be able to support us?" Milk is infant formula and we're homongenizing the milk fat. Drinking the milk can help us to store the engry into the human body. But not all milk are good for you. Some milk can cause a person to feel deadly. Raw milk that's fresh, farmilk, right out of the cor, once it's fermented so that the proteins are more digestible can be a beneficial to the human health. You can say milk does harm to your body because milk has different profiles. There are 2 bands of milks, there's living milk and there's dead milk. Dead milk, are very cruical to your health, because it is from a dead cow, but living milk, is from a healthy cow.

Does starving or skipping meal helps you to loose weights? Defianlty not! Starving and skipping meal just wants you to eat more later on. Notice how many people skip breakfast and lunch and when they get home, they will OD on the dinner. Which is so fucking bad. When you starve, you are loosing concentration and your body will complete shut down. Most people skip meals, thinking they'll lose weight and starting to become healthier. But how does skipping meal make you lose weight or healthier? Your body needs food that can help you move around. When you skip a mean, wont you starve and next thing you know, you'll be beasting on your next meal. Then you are full and want to skip dinner, but later on, you will feel hungry again and OD on foods. Your stomach could be able to expand and when there are extra food, those food will turn into fat. Starving or skipping meal can really damage your health. If this is a problem for you, you dont have to worry because...

When there's a problem, there's always a solution. If you want to stay "fit" you can eat a lot during breakfast or lunch, but when it comes to dinner, eat some fruits or drink some water then eat dinner. Why should you eat fruits first? becasue fruit are healthy for you and you wontr have to stuff yourself . Let's go back to breakfast, you must eat breakfast because that will help you with the beginning of the day. You dont want the food but your body might want them. You cant skip breakfast and wait till lunch, becuase you will beast on the next meal and wont have any more for your last meal. If you eat breakfast and lunch and you are still feeling hungry, "hey" that's a sign to feed your stomach, with some snacks. You can eat some fruit, drink water, or chew gum. Dinner is not the meal you should stuff food into your body because it will make you tired then you will want to sleep. And you should know better, if you finish eating you have to wait till it digest and should never lay on your bed. I am a 17 years old teenager and i dont have a healthy heart. Hey! Whats the point of reading this, if i aint healthy, but i ahve improve a lot. I am working our and listen to my doctor about cutting the fatty food. I eat a little bit for breakfast and on lunch, i'll sort of eat a lot. But when i am a little bit hungry afterward, i might chew on gum. When dinner about to start, i will mainly eat some fruits and drink some water because this will help me to eat the amount of food. if i get hungry late at night, i will eat some fruit or drink some water.

But what kind of "healthy" food should i eat? Well, you should eat food that can make your body grow stronger and functioning in a better way. You should eat more vegetables, fish, fruits, and meat. those are the food that helps you grow and stay healthy. You should studied the food pyrmaid.

These are the food you should stay away from, oily fast food such as Mc. Donald. Wendys, and Burger king etc. Those foods are so bad for the human body because of the oil, cholesterol, high carbohhydrates and calories. You should also stay away from sweetness and salt stuff such as sody and candy. You should always eat food that has proteins, which is in meat products, like chicken, pork, beef and steak etc. These food can help you feel strong but not all meat product are good or natural. These animals can get abused by their owner and it turn out to bed gross. It is just saying you are a dead absuive pig which has been killed for a month. *Meatrix* You should pay more attention to the stuff you are eating because it can really affect your life.

Take me for an example, 5 years ago, my doctor runs some test on me and the result was pretty awful. I was overweight, i have hight blood pressure and dieases. I ahve to step my game up because i want to live longer. I start working our and eat more healthier food. This summer, i have to reach 140 pounds because i am trying to get the ladies. And take my goal for advise, dont you want to live longer and get what you want? Have you ever heard of the show " the biggest losers" OMFG, this show inspire me to work harder and to stay healthy.

Food Assignment # 7

One of my favorite chinese food is "fried rice." Fried rice is a common part of any chinese meal. It is prepared with steamed rice that is tossed in the work with any topping you like. So, in order for me to bring it into class and actually let my teacher try it, i will only add rice, scrambled eggs, green peas, carrots, corn and onions. Cus, my teacher is a vegegians, so i dont want to add any types of meat. It is pretty easy to make fried rices. First, i will cook the rice which takes like 10-15 minutes. While waiting, i will chop the carrot into pieces, mix the egg together, cut the onion, wash the corns and carrots. Next i will fried the egg. Then i will just pour all my recipes including the rices onto the pried pan and just work it from there. I will add a little bit of soy sauce if i have too. Then add half a cup of cold water then just mix it. Wait for 10minutes, until there is smoke coming out from the cover. Finally, i will put it on a plastic bowl and bring it to my teacher to show him i did his assignemt.

Reguarly, my parent will add ham, spam, lettuce, onions, peas, onto the rice. That's how my parent like it and Andy if you like my recipe, you should try my dad's cooking. This recipe for me is easy to make. i learned it from watching my parent cooking. And sometimes, when i am home with my brother, i will make it for him.

The Omnivore's Dilemma

I agree with Michael Pollan of how people are trying to find out what types of foods are best for them. Most americans today listen to what experts has to say about foods and what to eat and not to eat to stay healthy. I total agree with this issues about americans being worried about the foods they eat. today, a lot of americans are reading newspaper, watching the news, and listening to radio about what foods are best for them. People listen to what experts has to say about foods but should we trust them? Personal, i agree with these experts that foods damage your heart and i seem many people trying to be fit and going to the gym to lose weight.

For myself. i didnt understand the concept or the reason why i should stay healthy. Back then when i was a little kid i will spend at least 3 dollars on a soda and 3 bags of chips. i didnt know that junk foods can really damage your body of being fat. i didnt understand how foods can harm you but right now as a teenager, i know that putting any foods in your mouth can either hurt you or help you. I weight around 160ish and when the doctor run some tests on me, i didnt like what i see. i decided to eat less fooods and only eat healthy food. when i ahve time, i will go swimming or play ball. I remember when i was in middle school i was like overweighted and i like this girl. LOL but this girl wasnt interested in a person like me. i started to go swimming and play ball to lose weight. i lost a lot and i ahve to maintain that routine of working out. Everytime i pass a fast food resturant, my heart starts to pump and i will go inside and get something to eat, but overall when i see the calories, i will head to subway. Right now, at my neighborhood, a grand opening mc. donald is not makign that many money becuase not many people are willing to eat fat foods. each time i feel like eating somethign very unhealthy i will just chew gum or play ball, which helps me a lot.

Grocery Store and Habitual Store

My father does all the shopping. He is a better cooker than my mom and he knows what kind of foods to make us happy. But of course, he doesnt worry about health conditions, he thinks that food is a source to make us happy. Most likely he will go to chinese store around 8 avenue to buy groceries. Whatever my dad see that make himself have a good full dinner, he will eventually buy like 10 bags. He mostly buy all types of meats and vegetable to cook. he doesnt give a crap whether the food is healthy or not, but when me and my dad run some test about our health, my mom started to become the shopper. My dad and i have to eat healthy foods because we arent eating any nutrients food. My mom started to shop and buy healthy foods, such as fish, chicken breast, fruits, and a lot of different chinese vegetables. My mom will look at the label if the foods is healthy or not. She is very serious about being healthy and she buy a lot of fruits.

I learned that eating unhealthy foods makes people feel very happy but it will hurt your heart and body. It is very important to be eating clean healthy foods that gives you energy and nutrients. i didnt listen to my mom about eating healthy foods but when my doctor run some tests on me, i began to eat healthy food. My mom told me that if you want to eat junk food so bad, think about my grandma. She dies because she was very unhealthy. Every night we have to eat some fruits and drink soup before we start having dinner. This is a rule my mom made up because this helps us to eat less foods. Foods can make people happy, but you have to know whether the food makes you healthy or not.
